Todd Tanner recommended this to me. I’ve been wearing the Patagonia pack-vest since the first blue version. On my third now, between guiding and my own angling, well things wear out.
I have all three Fishpond thunderhead packs (lumbar, sling and full pack) and also the Ridgeview tech pack (vest pack combo). I want to love the waterproof packs, but I can’t. I fished all day today in 21 degree weather up in Bath County with the combo pack and loved every second. Vest organization with the comfort of pack straps and enough storage to make me feel prepared for below freezing fishing on remote tailwaters.
I like the Fishpond gear, have a bunch of it. In conditions like those I would likely dig my old pack-vest out for additional capacity. Just makes good sense. Hope you had a good day. I cut up firewood...
I have both the old (original) Patagonia pack vest and an even older Patagonia fishing vest. I use the pack vest when hiking in the Blue Ridge Backcountry’s freestone streams with my fly rod, and the traditional vest when fishing larger water where no hike is required. Love them both.
Personally, I am rather fond of the sheepskin fly patch. :-)

Really curious to hear your report.
I'm excited to give it a work out as soon as I can!

Good to hear from old friend. I've lost to many flies to be fond of the sheepskin fly patch...
