Spring brook trout fishing has to be one of the best adventures known to man, at least this man. Monday was no exception.
If forced to pick a favorite brook trout stream, Ramsey’s would be it. It’s a beautiful stream, easy to access, with lots of topological variety to keep it interesting and challenging.
Here are some images from this latest trip so you can have a look for yourself.
It was an insect smorgasbord, with yellow stones, green drakes and blue winged olives all on the menu. I fished a variation of each and had fish eat all of them. As you will see below, they didn’t shy away from nymphs.
The water level was what I consider full. Most of the trees to the left are normally not in the water. This is great for late May and bodes well for June.
I’ll admit, the log in the lower left is one of my favorite spots to take a break.
If you have the chance, get out and enjoy the best time of year for brookie fishing. It really doesn’t get better than this.
