If you fly-fish there’s a good chance you know of Norman Maclean’s “A River Runs Through It.” You have likely read the book, seen the movie or both. And, if you have, you’ve quoted it, referenced it, or shared thoughts about your favorite scenes. It is that much of the fabric of the sport.
The American Museum of Fly Fishing honored the film with its 2022 Heritage Award. The video (below) is a 10-minute reminder of why the story is a touchstone for many fly-fishers worldwide. And 30 years after its release it still captures our attention and rekindles fond memories.

And one of the best written fishing books ever. The scene in the film where the young Maclean is told halve the length of his essay, and then halve it again should be watched by all budding writers.
